In a world where things are “loud” and announcements crowd our social media feeds, I have admittedly struggled on how and when to share more about my next venture. I have revealed some here with you, my BBSL lovelies, and dropped a few winks on Instagram; but nothing far and wide. We put ourselves under unnecessary pressure to tell all of our business and tell it right away when really, the “right time” is up to you. And it hasn’t felt like the right time…until now.
I’m grateful for this recent interview with the ladies of Yes, Honey, and for the opportunity to tell my story of not only venturing into this next chapter of entrepreneurship where I am—for the first time—raising capital, but also to speak about the gentler life I have created for myself in Mexico. At this stage of my life, I am embracing ease. And having Yes, Honey be the first place to allow me to share this in my own way was just that…beautifully easy.

HONEY CHILE is all about helping Black women over 40 live big, beautiful, bold lives, so I’d love to start by asking: what’s a small daily ritual or habit that keeps you grounded or brings you joy? I say “thank you” before my feet touch the floor every single morning. This grounds me in gratitude before anything else enters my mind each day.
What are you currently obsessed with—whether it’s a TV show, book, podcast, or anything else you’re loving right now? What’s keeping you hooked? Micro-dramas. I’m obsessed with the growth of the industry and the opportunity for creatives to showcase their work in a different way—outside of traditional paths to the “yes” we often have to wait years for from Hollywood.
You’re launching a new business—very exciting! Can you give us a little teaser about the new venture? Yes! As I mentioned I’m very excited about the micro-drama genre and as a writer and creative I’m exploring ways to create a space where our stories can be showcased in a meaningful way.
What would you like your next adventure to be? I’m in the third wave of my career—launching a new venture—and, for the first time, I’m raising capital. Literally having multi-million-dollar conversations around an idea that I have. The whole process has been a great lesson in self-awareness because I’m being pushed to walk my talk as far as asking for support. Resisting the urge to not throw my hands up and say “Fuck it, I’ll do it,” because that’s our default especially as Black women. But nope, I’m pushing to enroll others in this vision and ask for the support I need to bring this project to light in the way I deeply believe this audience that I’m catering to deserves. It’s bigger than me and my ego.
I interviewed actress Tina Lifford on the Support is Sexy podcast a few years ago and she said something that stuck with me: “You have to decide if you’re going to be in service to your ego or your vision.” When we’re in service to our ego, it often doesn’t lead us to act like we’re bigger than we are, it often leads us to shrink. But when we’re in service to our vision, we go for it, we embrace the mistakes as we learn and we ask for support. So for this part of my next adventure, I’m choosing to be in service to my vision.
