Teen Takeovers, My Thoughts.....

Back when I was a much younger person than I am now, I always enjoyed hanging out at high school sporting events with high school kids and their parents. Those were really fun times then.

However, as the years ago by, I have seen changes in this environment and not at all for the better. I have been seeing stories of these events called “Teen Takeovers” where rowdy kids would go and break and smash things and destroy property. A Google search has pulled up a number of stories on this topic.

This was never a problem when I went to those high school sporting events to hang out with kids and parents back in the 80’s and early 90’s. Maybe it was because there school officials were there watching the crowds to make sure they behaved themselves and didn’t try to cause any trouble. Sadly, things have changed and a lot of this is because of parents not raising their kids right like they did back them.

Thursday, I was reading in a local Facebook group about how high school kids were causing a ruckus at a local Chicken Express and breaking and smashing things and throwing food on the floor and making a mess. This was right during the public school lunch break. A lot of the people responding shared my thoughts about it being the fault of kids not teaching their parents right.

These things have pretty much soured my enjoyment of being around teens which is sad because I have grand nieces and grand nephews who are right now in some cases either at or approaching the teenage years. I’m NOT so sure at this point that I want to attend ANY sporting events or anything else involving those kids, one of whom has been playing football.

Clearly, America needs to get back right with God here. Unless and until that happens, those days of enjoying time with teens, even in our families, are over.
