Let’s talk about conversation at a whole new level.
This is the way I felt when I learned about Nadja Pass, the co-founder of Concopia and the work she and her co-founder Jan Rasmussen are doing related to human communication.
They use playing cards.
In a world that celebrates productivity and efficiency, Concopia provides a space for slowing down to reimagine and rethink.

It’s really quite hard to describe the work I do because it changes with each client, each challenge, each task. Nadja holds a degree in rhetorics and cultural studies. She has studied in Ghana, lived in New York, Nuuk and Havana for months, travelled extensively Vietnam, India and the Middle East and when she was a young adult she got to know Moscow and Beijing inside-out as she constantly visited her parents who worked at the Danish Embassies. In 2022 Nadja was appointed to the Danish Design Council for her work within civic design. A completely new form of educational institution, where we can teach each other everything we have learned and cherish. Read a lot more and get involved at http://samtidensakademi.dk. When I finally realized there were no such exiting options I decided to create them myself in coorperation with anthropologist Andreas Lloyd. Ever since we’ve created lots af experiments - and our “Conversation Salons” have proved to be especially relevant and seem to have reinvigorated the notion of public discourse. Lately we have started to help Ministeries and Municipalities create new ways of engaging the citizens more actively in society. Meaning that at this point we’re doing a lot of underground, voluntary, buttom up work AND reinventing the way top-down-decisions are made. She is the founder of several initiatives such as Civic Desire, Conversation Salons and The Academy of Now.
She has published several books, magazines and decks of conversation cards. She has also worked with a wide array of museums to help rethink the way they engage their visitors, various state departments in rethinking politics and the Danish Government in reevoking rhetorical citizenship.

It all started out with a basic frustration. I wanted to be much more actively involved in changing the society around me for the better - but I didn’t want to join a political party or an old-fashioned organization. I was looking for something more spontanious and fun, some way of developing new skills and meet great new people WHILE I was making a difference. I wanted to submit not only to my civic duties but also to my civic desires.
