Can you hear it?
The call that’s been waiting at the edges of your consciousness.
The trees, the rivers, and the ancestors are calling you into relationship with the deep source of your creative vision.
When you are in touch with the deep dreaming of your cosmology, the field you hold becomes wider than the field of domination. Your art can begin to affect the relational fields of culture as you invite your audiences into new ways of perceiving, creating new conditions for transformation.
Does your hero’s journey also seek the wellbeing of watersheds and root systems? Do your stories position nature as the unconscious background to human action or as an animate force with its own narrative contributions? How do you create space and slowing down within your art-making so that the voices of nature can become perceivable, so that the human can listen and learn?
What ancestors are dreaming through your stories? When you are unpacking a conflict in your narrative, do you feel the intergenerational roots of it, the life force not lived, the expression that was interrupted, and can you trace back the thread to the source pattern of disconnection that it stems from? Can you look beyond the last couple hundred years to the ancestors who did have folk wisdom and relationship to land in reciprocity; and ask for their guidance in shaping our visions of the future?
How is your art contributing to collective regeneration? Are your stories reweaving what has been broken in the collective or re-enacting the pain of the separation? When you mature with a character over a period of time, what threads of myth or archetype are moving through you to nourish exiled elements of culture? Can a portion of the resource you receive from your creations be circulated within projects for ecosystem and community regeneration, strengthening the link between imaginal and material worlds?
I can be your guide into stepping into relationship with systemic forces in a way that doesn’t so feel overwhelming, especially when you’re relating to fields and cultural patterns much bigger and older than our lifetimes.
Together we listen for the emergent rituals and organic processes of transformation that support your embodiment of your creative vision within collective contexts.
Your dreaming is already a response to these wider forces. There’s a deeper layer of consciousness in which you are already in an unfolding conversation. It’s just about supporting you in learning how to listen there and find your agency within it.
Most cultures that have a shamanic tradition—a way of acknowledging the wider animate forces of the earth—can see how your maturation is entangled with your evolving creative process. They would see how the art you’re carrying is unfurls beyond an isolated narrative into direct relationship to the field of the collective. Your creativity is the invisible realm of your imagination speaking to the invisible realm of culture through the medium of your body, through your breath, your visioning, your song. These are the elements of culture that we are learning to remember.
