Blessed Unrest

Dr. Brianna J. Migliore · Dysregulation Nation

I sat down at the back of Sunday service this morning already exhausted and dysregulated. It was only 10:30 AM, but I felt like I could have easily gone back to bed, pulled the covers up, and slept for the rest of the day. Maybe longer. Everything lately has just felt heavy.

Then they played this song.

As it played, I looked around at the congregation (my “village”) and felt my nervous system start to settle.

Every Sunday, I walk into that building with a completely empty cup, and every Sunday, I walk out feeling a bit more regulated, and a bit less alone. This morning, I also walked out with something else that’s been in very short supply lately: hope.

So I wanted to pass the song along in case it offers you some of the same. And I hope you find your way to your village today too.

Fill my days with blessed unrest

And my nights with dreams of justice

Make me a vessel

For the turning of the tide

As always — stay calm, stay connected, and stay regulated.
