The rules didn't get harder for everyone.

Dear Migrants,

If you’ve been following migration news over the past few months, you’ve probably come away with one conclusion:

Everything is getting harder.

Student visa caps.

Higher salary thresholds.

More expensive visas.

Stricter eligibility rules.

It feels like every country is closing its doors.

But after reading hundreds of migration developments this month, I don’t think that’s the right conclusion.

I think we’re asking the wrong question.

The question isn’t:

“Is Australia becoming harder?”

The question is:

“Harder for whom?”

Student visas became more expensive.

Salary thresholds increased.

Yet Australia continues inviting skilled workers through SkillSelect.

Overall immigration targets came down.

Yet Express Entry invitations continue for specific occupations and provincial pathways.

Political debate around immigration has intensified.

Yet employers are recruiting foreign workers because labour shortages continue to deepen.

“Do we want migrants?”

They’re asking:

“Which migrants do we want?”

That’s a fundamentally different question.

And if you don’t recognize that shift, every headline starts to look like bad news.

If you do recognize it, you’ll stop reacting to headlines and start looking for opportunity.

The next time you read that a country is “tightening immigration,” don’t ask:

Can I still move there?

DO NOT PANIC!!! Instead ask:

1. Which people are they still actively trying to attract?

2. Do I fit that profile today?

3. If not, what can I do over the next 12–24 months to become that person?
