It has begun. I picked a handful and the Main Muse and I ate all but these. Over the next several weeks, there will be gallons. What we don’t eat or give away we will freeze. We’ll have to be out early to beat the birds to them.
We have two varieties bearing now, Brown Turkey and Celeste. This year, they are both fruiting at the same time. Brown Turkey has a deep rich flavor. Celeste is milder and sweet. This is the biggest crop we’ve had so far.
I’ve been rooting cuttings this year so we can expand our little fig grove. It may be possible to have too many figs, but we haven’t reached that point yet.
