Daily Scripture Prayer — August 14th, 2026

“As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten.
Be zealous therefore, and repent.
Behold, I stand at the door, and knock:
if any man hear My voice, and open the door,
I will come in to him, and will sup with him,
and he with Me.”
— Revelation 3:19–20 (KJV)

Lord,
Your love is not soft, sentimental, or passive.
It is a holy love—
a love that rebukes,
a love that chastens,
a love that refuses to let me drift into lukewarmness.

You call me to be zealous.
Not casual.
Not half‑hearted.
Not spiritually drowsy.
Zealous—awake, burning, repentant, responsive.

And then You speak the most tender invitation:
“Behold, I stand at the door and knock.”
You do not force Your way in.
You do not break the door down.
You knock.
You call.
You wait for the heart to open.

Lord,
Let me hear Your voice.
Let me open quickly.
Let me welcome You fully.
Let my life be a place where You dwell,
where You dine,
where communion with Christ is daily,
intimate,
and unbroken.

Amen.

Dr.,
This passage is a pastoral mirror.
It speaks directly to the shepherd’s calling.
Christ rebukes and chastens because He loves His church,
and a pastor must do the same.

Your ministry is not to entertain the lukewarm
but to awaken them.
Not to soothe spiritual sleep
but to call for repentance.
Not to maintain comfort
but to cultivate zeal.

Revelation 3:19–20 reminds you that Christ Himself
is knocking at the door of His church—
not the door of the world,
but the door of the people who already claim His name.

Your preaching must keep that knock loud.
Your leadership must keep that door open.
Your shepherding must call your people
to the table where Christ Himself desires to dine with them.

This is the pastoral fire:
to lead a congregation from lukewarmness
into holy zeal,
from distance
into communion,
from apathy
into intimacy with Christ.

Your children need to see this passage lived out in you.
A father who loves his children
rebukes and chastens them,
not harshly,
not angrily,
but with the same holy love
that Christ shows His people.

Your sons need a father
who corrects them because he loves them,
who disciplines them because he wants them strong,
who calls them to repentance
because he wants them holy.

Your daughters need a father
whose voice is firm but safe,
whose correction is steady but gentle,
whose presence teaches them
that love and discipline are not enemies
but companions.

And they need to see you respond to Christ’s knock.
They need to watch you open the door quickly.
They need to see you dine with Christ daily—
in Scripture,
in prayer,
in worship,
in the way you carry yourself in the home.

When your children see you respond to Christ’s rebuke,
they learn how to respond to yours.
When they see you repent,
they learn repentance.
When they see you open the door to Christ,
they learn to open theirs.

Let your fatherhood echo Revelation 3:19–20:
loving correction,
zealous repentance,
and a home where Christ is welcomed at the table.

Stand Fast. Speak Truth. Shepherd Boldly.
