As a doctor of Chinese medicine, I see transformation every single day. In clinic I watch patients walk in feeling frustrated, confused, disconnected from their bodies, and I watch them soften as their systems come back into balance. Skin clears. Sleep returns. Digestion strengthens. Anxiety quiets. And every time it reminds me that true skin health and true wellness never start at the surface. They begin with the body’s internal harmony. This is the lens of Traditional Chinese Medicine, a holistic medicine that has guided healing for thousands of years.
For years I kept asking myself one question. How do we make this wisdom accessible? How do we bring the root cause lens of TCM into the everyday routines people are already doing?
That question became Moonbow.
Skincare is personal to me. It was the first ritual I learned in my Asian household. My mother taught me to cleanse and moisturize when I was eight years old. It was not vanity. It was culture. It was care. It was prevention. It was the belief that the body thrives when you support it consistently.
TCM is also deeply personal. I trained in neuroscience and allergy and immunology before I switched to Chinese medicine because I could not ignore what Western medicine kept missing. It treated symptoms. It stabilized disease. But it did not teach us how to understand the body. It did not teach us the language of imbalance or the patterns beneath our discomfort. Chinese medicine gave me that. It gave me a way to see humans as whole.
I also lived the healing. When I moved to the USA, my skin broke out in a way I had never experienced. Hormonal acne, inflammation, redness that would not calm. Nothing worked until I returned to the foundations I was raised with. Warm foods. Herbal medicine. Acupuncture. Breath. Nervous system care. Within months my skin found its balance again.
My twin sister and co founder, Heather, experienced the same. She developed IBS and gut issues when she moved to the USA. Western medicine gave her labels but not answers. What helped her was the same ancient medicine that helped me. Diet therapy, herbs, acupuncture, lifestyle shifts. Watching her heal confirmed what I already knew. The body always wants to return to balance when you give it the right tools.
This is why Moonbow exists.
To take the heart of Chinese medicine and translate it into a form people already understand. Skincare is universal. Everyone washes their face. Everyone moisturizes. If we can infuse that daily ritual with 5000 years of wisdom, we can change how people think about their bodies. We can show them that skin health is not isolated. It is digestion, sleep, hormones, stress, and emotional flow. It is internal and external. It is holistic.
We created Moonbow to bridge two worlds. The ancient wisdom we were raised with and the modern beauty landscape we live in. Moonbow is skincare, but it is also lifestyle, herbs, and education. It is an invitation for people to return to nature and to themselves. It is for the person who wants deeper answers. The person who is tired of chasing quick fixes. The person who knows there must be more.
And honestly, there has never been a better time. Beauty and wellness are shifting. People are seeking meaning. They are seeking longevity. They are seeking rituals that ground them. They are seeking medicine that honors the whole human. Chinese medicine has existed for thousands of years because it works. Because it teaches us how to partner with our bodies instead of fight them.
Moonbow was born in March 2025 with this purpose. To bring Chinese medicine into the western beauty space in a way that is gentle, accessible, educational, inclusive, and truly holistic. To help the next generation understand their bodies earlier. To bring root cause health into daily life. To carry forward a medicine that has carried our culture for centuries.
This is only the beginning. I am excited for what we are building. I am grateful to be able to share this with all of you. And I cannot wait to keep bringing the power of TCM into modern skincare in a way that feels relatable, beautiful, and transformative.
Moonbow is not just a brand. It is a bridge. It is a return to wisdom. It is a reminder that healing is possible, and that it begins within.
