Dr Elizabeth Dalgarno is a lecturer and researcher in women and children’s health and justice at the University of Manchester, UK, and the founder and director of the global SHERA Research Group. Coercive control underpins all acts of terrorism, and while not every coercive controller will become a terrorist in the traditional sense, we must acknowledge that coercive control is in itself terrorism and stop ignoring the evidence that shows countless known terrorists have now been identified as previously abusive in the home and to people close to them.
