The three Baltic states — Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania — sit along the eastern edge of the Baltic Sea, between Poland and the Gulf of Finland. They are small countries, and you can travel the length of all three by road in a single long day. But that would miss the point. This is a part of Europe that has spent centuries under the rule of others — Danish, German, Swedish, Polish, and Soviet — and has held on to its own languages, faiths, and traditions through all of it. The result is a region where the past is close to the surface and easy to reach.

During the Middle Ages, the location of Kolossi held great strategic importance, with the facilities for producing sugar from the local sugarcane – one of Cyprus’ main exports at the time.

Located 35km from the main city of Larnaka, just off the Larnaka – Lemesos highway, the archaeological site of Choirokoitia is a remarkably well-preserved settlement from the Neolithic Age that has been a listed UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1998.

The beach gets its name from an ancient fig tree that has stood here since the 17th century — a lone survivor from when eastern traders passed through this coastline. It’s still there today, and still the unofficial meeting point for visitors.

The Ayia Napa sea caves are a must see landmark along the stunning coastline at the edge of Ayia Napa. Marking the start of the Cape Greco national forest park, there are impressive rock bridges, hidden caves and tunnels.

Legend has it that Aphrodite, the goddess of love and beauty, was born from the waves of the Mediterranean Sea near this very spot. For centuries, people have traveled to Aphrodite’s Rock to seek her blessings for romance and love.

The western coast of Norway is shaped by water and rock. Over thousands of years, glaciers carved long, narrow inlets into the land, leaving behind steep cliffs that drop straight into deep, still fjords. This region, often called Fjord Norway, stretches from the city of Bergen in the south to the mountains and coastline around Ålesund and Geiranger in the north. It is a place where small farms still cling to green ledges high above the water, and where ferries and railways remain part of daily life rather than simple tourist attractions.
