There is something special about the All-Star Break. It is a unique moment on the baseball calendar when the daily rhythm of baseball slows down. The standings stay put. The box scores disappear. Instead of worrying about tomorrow’s lineup or tonight’s pitching matchup, we get a chance to appreciate the game itself.
As kids, the Home Run Derby felt magical. The All-Star Game brought together players we’d only seen on highlight shows or baseball cards. For one night, rivalries take a back seat, and the game’s biggest stars share the same field.
It is a reminder of why many of us fell in love with baseball in the first place.
In this replay of Baseball, Unscripted: Live at the All-Star Break, Molly Knight and I reflect on some of the stories we have seen over the first half of the season. The surprises, the players who have broken out, and teams that have made us rethink what we expected back in March.
We also shared thoughts on the Home Run Derby and the All-Star Game, and discussed the teams and players we are watching as the playoff race begins to heat up.
There is a lot to come in the second half, and the next few months should provide plenty of drama as contenders separate themselves and the pennant races begin to take shape.
If you missed our live stream, you can catch the full replay above.
I would also love to hear your thoughts on the first half of the season.
Thanks, as always, for watching, reading, and being part of the Welcome to Glanville community. Enjoy the replay, and let’s see what the second half has in store.
