We are changing Alabama

Folks,

From Selma to the Voting Rights Act, Alabama has always been one of the places where the country decides what kind of country it wants to be.

And right now, thanks to the huge grassroots movement we are building, Alabama is going to decide the direction of the country again.

Control of Congress this November could come down to just a handful of races. A new poll shows that our movement is helping put one of those races, right here in Alabama, within reach.

You’ve probably heard about Montgomery’s attempt to strip away representation from Black Alabamians by redrawing our congressional maps. One of their biggest targets was Rep. Shomari Figures in AL-02.

Rep. Figures won handily in 2024, but Republicans redrew his district to make it much more favorable to them. Republicans have a nine-point party identification advantage in the district, and Rep. Figures was supposed to lose this race.

But thanks to you, and thanks to everyone who has contributed and volunteered for this campaign, that’s not what is happening.

New polling shows that Rep. Figures is tied with his Republican opponent, Rhett Marques, 46–46. The poll attributes Rep. Figures’ outstanding performance to a “powerful top-of-the ticket boost” from my campaign for governor.

Numbers like these would have been completely unthinkable six months ago. Republicans, Democrats, and Independents across our state are fed up with the power-hungry politics of division and hate that have ruled Montgomery for too long.

If Rep. Figures beats the odds and holds his seat, AL-02 could determine control of the House. We are changing Alabama, and with it, we are changing the country.

The Civil Rights Movement showed us just how much what happens here can shape the future of America. Today, we have another chance to show the country what is possible when ordinary people come together, refuse to be divided, and demand a government that answers to them.

My team and I are all in to help Rep. Figures win. We’re going to keep building this movement, bringing Alabamians together from every political party, and fighting to put power back where it belongs: in the hands of ordinary people.
