Every year, the Festival del Libro y la Cultura Dominicana brings together readers, writers, educators, publishers, students, and book lovers to celebrate the richness and diversity of Dominican literature. It is a space where stories are shared, ideas are exchanged, and our literary heritage continues to grow.
Organized by the Dirección de Cultura Dominicana en el Exterior, an office of the Ministry of Culture of the Dominican Republic, the festival has become an important gathering space for the Dominican diaspora and a platform for promoting books, ideas, and cultural exchange.
Taking place July 10–12, 2026, at George Washington Educational Campus in Washington Heights, New York City, this year’s festival will feature author talks, book presentations, panel discussions, workshops, cultural programming, and opportunities to connect with writers from the Dominican Republic and beyond.
The festival is especially valuable for Spanish-language writers and readers, offering a unique opportunity to discover new books, meet publishers and fellow authors, and engage with a literary community dedicated to preserving and celebrating Dominican storytelling in Spanish.
As part of this year's celebration, Dominican Writers Association is proud to present two pre-festival virtual workshops and a full weekend of programming on July 11 and 12.
