I shall attempt to limit myself to 30 minutes to write these weekly update reports. Okay who am I kidding…. 🙄
I did NOT get to finish the last half of my Operation Help Christine post like I said I would in last week’s report.
I also didn’t have the mental capacity to deeply think through what to write in my Substack “Welcome” newsletter.
That said, I did accomplish A TON - more than I could have ever done back home. A lot involved some personal interests, but it all ties back to ORIENTED.COM.
Not to worry.
Plus, I am in Hawaii this week, so I’ve also been running around seeing people and taking it all in.
Hawaii is awesome!
But I digress. Here we go.
Before I can officially launch this publication, I needed to somehow explain why I am still running the ORIENTED Happy Hours, even though all of my outbound sales content states that they ran from 2002 to 2012.
I’ve been procrastinating forever on this because well, how DO I explain it?!
In the end, I just stuck to the facts:
The simultaneously-coordinated, multi-city events discontinued in 2012
ORIENTED events are still being held, just one city at a time
I was pretty psyched once I figured out how to communicate this discrepancy.
I edited the “Personal Requests” section for the umpteenth time and am MUCH happier with the way it reads now.
My reaching out to my extensive network has a lot of implications. I am also curious to see just how powerful it really is.
We shall see!
At some point, I will explain how this network relates to ORIENTED.
See Progress Report #6
For now, and for my records:
Organized not one but FOUR “Meet & Greet” events, one which was held this Friday, and an “ORIENTED Happy Hour in Taipei” in July.
Spent an exorbitant amount of time on the Initiatives, making it as compelling as I possibly could.
Threw together the questions to ask for the LBAI podcast series, which I am particularly excited about.
Interviewed Rainbow Chen who agreed to be my very first guest on the podcast. I could not find my mini mics before I left home, so the audio is not great. But I didn’t want to miss this chance to interview her.
Watched a video (more times than I can count!) of a chat I had last week with Kent Jue and how I found out that he, too, is a Love Boat alum!
Somewhere along the way, it hit me like a bolt of lightning that I should also do a podcast with ORIENTED members.
Many are now in C-level positions and other positions of influence, and many are also Love Boat alumni.
I am freakin’ brilliant…
Only show weekly progress reports on the homepage — as seen from a desktop or laptop — when I don't have time to write a Pitch Idea or Insights article.
Include a homepage screenshot with every progress report so that I can, um, see my progress.
Train myself to stick with my Tasks app for all my to-do’s. Then I can just insert screenshots, saving me lots of time re: documentation.
And everything else I did.
Again, I repeat, I absolutely LOVE this Substack platform!
Had I known about it earlier, I would have definitely used it for my online journals. For everything, actually!
I started out hard coding my first website, then switched to Blogger which I am also using today to power LBAI (surprise!), and thought about moving over to WordPress since I use it for my business website.
But Substack beats them all, hands down.
Maybe I’ll write an Insights article about why Substack is a superior platform, for anyone who might find it useful.
Or maybe I’ll create digital products for other domain name owners and charge for my expertise. Hmm… hmmmmm!!
On my last day in Hawaii, I looked up from my laptop to see Kent Jue standing right in front of me. What are the odds?!
As I said to Kent,
“我們一定有緣分!”
He only had a few minutes to spare, so I took the liberty to fill up every second to tell him about the LBAI Initiatives and why I am insisting that he get involved, when the time is right.
He didn’t say “no”.
So I took that to mean, “Sure Christine! Whatever you need.”
Everyone should learn from Kent, in my humble opinion.
