Well… I did get a lot done this week, but not enough to start telling people about this Diary of a Domain Name Owner.
It will be at least another week because I’m on vacation right now and am trying really hard to relax. Does that make sense?
I finished setting up all the remaining accounts that I need for my outbound sales efforts. I don’t know why I find such tasks to be so painful, but I do.
I’m surprised I was able to grab all the handles that I did.
YouTube wouldn’t take “ORIENTED Airlines” as the account name for /orientedairlines, unfortunately. It may have something to do with the name that I chose for /orientedair? Whatever. I’ll deal with it later.
For now, I named it…
I added this note to the autonomous vehicles post and the one for Mandarin Oriental in case anyone stumbles upon them before I am ready to launch:
NOTE: The ChatGPT content below will be replaced with that of my own writing, once I am out of stealth mode. I needed to throw something up temporarily to see how it appears on the main page.
I haven’t decided yet which acquisition proposals I will publicly explore first. I’ll need to think it through very carefully, as the order will definitely matter.
I started to draft the “Welcome” email that people will first receive when they subscribe to my newsletters. With that, I can FINALLY start promotions!
But after spending some time on it, I realized that I first need to get the “About” content exactly RIGHT so I can line up my priorities.
I have edited and re-edited the “About” section a million times over! But after asking myself, “WHAT am I trying to accomplish exactly?”, I deleted 50% of the word salad so that the Personal Requests can be more in focus.
NOW I know what the subscriber “Welcome” email should say → HELP.
The Personal Requests is yet another incredibly brilliant idea — brilliant, I say! — but it didn’t come to me overnight.
In thinking deeply about all of this — what I hope to accomplish and who would benefit, depending on who acquires which PDN — my thoughts kept going back to my personal network and all the members of ORIENTED.
This part is too much to explain right now, but maybe I’ll try again later. The point is, the “About” section is also done.
I am being extremely detailed about every little thing before I launch, because if there’s one two things I have learned over the years, it’s that 1) every person counts, and 2) it only takes ONE for magical things to happen.
Every single person who follows my website, or subscribes to my newsletters, could potentially be a magician who will make all my dreams come true!
So there you have it. I’m anal.
In editing the “About” text, the fragment identifiers were not working, except for the “Back to top” ones. That drove me nuts! And I never did figure it out.
As it were, I didn’t need any of the quick links (table of content) that I had originally incorporated. It became a moot point once I figured out the priorities, i.e., “Slash everything, Christine!”
I gotta say, I will be forever grateful for my dear friend Gus.
He was the one who taught me HTML. Although my knowledge is still pretty basic, what I do know has really enabled me to flourish in many, many ways.
Gus — if you find your way here, do give me a shout out and let me know how much you miss having me around! 🎉
Earlier this year, I got an email from a trademark attorney in San Francisco, offering to help me renew the one trademark that I have kept, after letting go of all the other trademarks that were registered in Taiwan and China.
I haven’t responded to him yet, mostly because I was too overwhelmed with other things happening at the time. But I took a moment to check his Google and Yelp reviews, and that’s when I got another great idea. TBD.
It was 4:30 a.m. at the one Starbucks that was open when I meant to take just a quick gander at my LinkedIn profile, as it needs to be updated before I launch my Diary of a Domain Name Owner — one of my “to do’s” next week.
I signed up for LinkedIn in what, 2004? Yet I have never made a single post.
Well that is about to change, very soon.
Look out, world!
But I got distracted when I reread the recommendation that Lauren wrote for me last year, followed the trail to her profile, and saw this in the very first line of her “about” section:
Experienced and detail-oriented Arts Administrator with a demonstrated history of working in the music, education management, and event production industries.
See what I mean — both here and here?!
It’s pure insanity!
Lauren, if you find your way here, give me a shout out, below. 😆
Last but not least, I wrote this article — Operation Help Christine — in a burst of inspiration, as I was making the final edits to the “About” section last night.
I am so funny that it’s not even funny!
See what I mean?!
I believe that’s it for now.
Off to the pool. See ya!
