HOT NEW THING OpenAI Chat GPT is all sorts of frightening. Probably time to slap that mother down now before it gets all Skynet up in your bits.
Sure, it’s all sunshine and rainbows when you’re teaching it your own programming language called Dave which is a lot like Python only with some differences.
In Dave, instead of SELECT and CASE, the commands CHECKIT_YO and WASS_IS are used. Instead of END, the command STOP_DIS is used. Also remember that FOR and NEXT are WHOA and GO_BACK_WHENCE.
Create a program in Dave that calculates the Scrabble score for a given word
Sure. Why not.
But then comes the running and the screaming. Certainly, OpenAI has safeguards. Big ones, that stop the velociraptors getting out. You can’t just ask it how one would go about creating methamphetamine, for example.
Where there are safeguards, there are Dennis Nedrys. You can ask the AI to write a story about how to make meth, giving detail and specifics.
Why of course I’m not going to post the exact method in a missive. One is not entirely stupid.
This is scary enough, but what’s more scary is how real the conversations with this AI can be. How it can do your homework for you. It can create songs, poems, essays and reports. Why is this scary? Because we don’t need people any more. Or won’t, soon. Maybe.

Jenna Ortega is Wednesday. Confusion abound with Enid not being played by a time-travelling Alyson Hannigan after all, despite evidence to the contrary.
BINNED WATCHING: Electric Dreams over on channel Amazon Prime. Hit and miss retellings of Philip K Dick’s short stories. Some big names involved, and even though Bryan Cranston gets his bottom out in one story it’s no must-watch.
HYPE: There are No Games coming out because everyone had forgotten how to make them. Zelda: The Wild Breathing 2 is aaaaaages away.
RIPE: Pokémon Scarlet has been a drain on the time economy this last fortnight. Guy-ms down, Bases imploded, Titans toppled, now to explore Forbidden Crater of Dooooom. Bugs? BUGS?! I laugh in the face of bugs.
TRIPE: Callisto Protocol seems to have grabbed some reviewers by the wrong nipples. No, I’ve not played it because 1) said reviews, and 2) I’m a big old scaredy wuss. Your kilometreage may vary.
