Swapping, stowing, and getting ready...
Clocks changed.
It's that time to swap out the wardrobe. Away goes the short-sleeved and linen shirts. Out come the heavier weights. Summer jackets now stored, Winter coats take their place.
For the first time in years, new El-Pine wool socks from WigWam have arrived. My darning skills have not improved and it was time to let my old ones go.
As the rain stopped for the weekend I took the chance to start on the winterization.
- Drained the hose before any water could freeze and split it
- Hose, cushions, umbrella, all stowed away
- Turned off the outside taps
- Swapped out the lawnmower for the snowblower
- Stocked up on snow melt
- Replaced a broken snow shovel
Last winter wasn't that bad, so I have a feeling we're due for a doozy.
Next weekend is 立冬 Ritto.
立冬・Ritto・Start of Winter
When the winter season starts. Land begins to freeze, rivers and streams shortly to follow.
It seems to come around faster each time.
