I have already talked about the Impostor Syndrome.
Since then, I’ve found something that helped me a lot with it, but let’s take a few step back and analyse our enemy.
Impostor syndrome shows up when:
You feel like you don’t belong
You think you’re not good enough
You think everyone else is smarter, faster, more “senior” than you
And worst of all?
You start believing it’s true.
We forget what we’ve already done.
We only focus in on our weaknesses and we forget our wins.
That’s exactly why I started using what I call a Victory Log.
It’s really really simple.
Every time I do something I’m proud of, no matter how small, I write it down.
Finished a side project? Write it.
Got positive feedback from a teammate? Write it.
Solved a hard bug? Crushed a presentation? Woke up early and coded before work? Write it.
Big or small, doesn’t matter.
There is NO small victory
If it felt like a win, it goes in the log.
Don’t even try to think twice about it, okay?
One thing that we forget when growing up, is to celebrate our victories.
We just take them for granted and forget about wins, which is bad.
Impostor syndrome is emotional, not logical.
So you fight it with evidence.
When your brain says “You’re not good enough”, you now have a list, hard proof, that says “You’re wrong this time buddy”
Open a Google Doc or Notion page
Title it: Victory Log
Add the first victory that comes to mind, no matter how small you think it is (it’s probably isn’t small btw)
Add a new item every time you achieve something
Read it one time every week (especially on bad days)
That’s it.
Really, that’s literally it
Impostor syndrome won’t disappear overnight.
But with the right system, you can kick it back when it shows up.
Start a victory log.
Track your wins.
And remember this
There is NO small Victory.
Celebrate them all.
