Networking isn't just exchanging business cards, numebers or attending tech conferences.
It's about building connections that can help your tech career going forward and can make you a better engineer and a better person.

Choose the Right Platforms

Not all social platforms are created equal.
LinkedIn is a gold mine for professional networking, there’s a reason if everyone uses it in our fields, right? It’s not perfect, I know, but it works!
Find out where tech professionals in your specific field are and join the conversation.

Go to Conferences and Meetups

IRL interaction is super valuable.
Go to conferences and meetups near where you live to meet engineers and leaders.
These events are opportunities to learn from everyone and connect with people like you.

Give Your Skills for free

One of the best ways to meet people and build professional relationships is by GIVING. Offer your tech skills to who needs them.
It shows your focus to your field and helps put your name out there.

Follow Up and Stay Connected

After meeting someone, follow up with a brief message about your conversation. Show your interest in keeping the conversation going.
Maintaining relationships is as important as building them.

Be Genuine

Be yourself, don’t try to be someone else, you’ll appear fake (because you will be fake) and the connections you’ll build will be meaningless.
Truth builds trust.

Stay Open and Curious

Every person you meet knows something that you don’t.
Be open minded and you will learn from everyone, regardless of their industry or experience.

Start building your network now, it will lead to your next big opportunity or jump in your career, you never know
