As political activities intensify in the lead-up to the 2027 elections, the spread of electoral misinformation and disinformation has become a growing concern. False narratives, manipulated content, and misleading claims can shape public opinion, influence electoral choices, and undermine trust in democratic processes.

This edition, themed “Electoral Disinformation: Understanding the Landscape and Fact-Checking,” is designed to equip participants with the knowledge and practical skills needed to identify, verify, and respond to false or misleading election-related information.

Participants will gain insights into how electoral disinformation spreads, the techniques commonly used to manipulate information, and the role of fact-checking in protecting the integrity of democratic discourse. The session will also explore practical verification tools and strategies that journalists, researchers, civil society organisations, students, election observers, and engaged citizens can use to distinguish facts from falsehoods.
