Learning data viz from the best: New America and Datawrapper

A little while ago I scrolled past a post on BlueSky commenting on a discussion where political scientist Oscar Pocasangre pulled up some figures he created on the topic of discussion a while ago. The figures he pulled up were for a 2023 report he co-wrote for think tank New America. While the topic in itself is interesting It’s about partisan divide in the 2022 election if you don’t want to click the link , the thing that struck me were the quality of the figures. The layout was very elegant, professional, and consistent across the report. So as I did in a previous post on figured from the FT I want to break down these figures and try to recreate them with {ggplot2}.
