Everyone’s heard of Mothman, haven’t they? Especially if you read that last sentence aloud. But he’s always been there, in the back of our minds. “Yes, Mothman, I think I have heard of him.” There you go, I predicted as much.
There’s been a vague myth of a moth-man hybrid floating around in Western culture since 1966.1 I understand that he’s a cryptid, like Bigfoot and the Loch Ness Monster. An otherworldly being that some claim to have seen.
He’s the subject of an upcoming theatrical comedy; it’s called Mothman: A Romance Musical. I chatted to 4 members of the cast, only weeks away from their Edinburgh Fringe run. It was a bit chaotic, but they made my day.

Wow, I’ve finally reached my goal. I’ve interviewed over 50 comedians!! I was quick to set my sights on that number, mainly because it sounds impressive. But being an honest fella, I knew I had to do it, so here we are. I couldn’t have done it without you.
Don’t panic (as if you were); I’m not going anywhere. But it is a significant achievement worth mentioning, as the vast majority of those interviews were long-form, i.e. at least 40 minutes each. Sometimes double. Perhaps I’ll write a separate piece about the overall experience. Yes, yes, some overly formal autistic reflections. You’d love that, wouldn’t you?

I enjoyed listening back. It felt a bit chaotic in the thick of it, but oh, how its value shone upon re-lobe-ification. I’ve made that word up. No, no, it was packed with value, like, oo, a big box of pencils or something. All of them were lovely. Alex Prescot turned up in a nice shirt, and I expected no less. Alex Franklin blew me a kiss, Hudson Hughes administered giggles, and Nikola McMurtrie was refreshingly candid. Which, as an interviewer, is my highest hope.
