Welcome to the New Moon rundown! The Moon is going to be at its darkest point of illumination soon, which means it’s time to reach for stillness and reorient ourselves before we begin again and go into the waxing phases.

We’re in eclipse season— simple as that. All eclipses signify a heightened period of time within the realm that they occur, but this one has a little extra spice to it. Not because it’s taking place within a Fire realm or because the Sun is domiciled, but because this is a kickoff eclipse.

This is the first eclipse we’re having within the Leo portion of the Aquarius/Leo axis. The realm of Aquarius already saw its first eclipse back in February, but now it’s fixed Fire’s turn.

What does this inaugural eclipse mean? It means we can’t even begin to anticipate what’s to come within the realm of Leo. There’s been an abundance of new energy in Leo— Jupiter’s ingression, Mercury’s ingression, the Jupiter cazimi, the lunar nodes (depending on what calculation you use)— and there’s a good chance we don’t know what to make of it yet. We’re only just beginning to remold and shape the karmic clay of fixed Fire. It’s brimming with unbridled possibility, but also inexperience and uncertainty.

Eclipses are known for being catalysts of upheaval and revealing information that we didn’t exactly anticipate. The realm of Leo is a place where we perform, where we’re pushed into the spotlight whether we care for it or not. The fact that this is a New Moon eclipse adds to the element of uncertainty, but also the freedom to rehearse as needed. We’re still in the process of setting the stage, writing the script, and learning our lines. What the eclipse pushes us towards may help with these endeavors.

A Leo Moon is bold, daring, and doesn’t shy away from using theatrics to express itself. There is a primal need to feel seen— to be adored. The realm of Leo is a place we’re looking for adoration, or at least appreciation. We can no longer ignore these desires and need to begin formulating how we’ll build a stage for our passions to be played out, performed, and ultimately— seen.

Fixed Fire is the sign of ego itself. Working with our ego will be a big part of how the realm of Leo comes together. What we discover, or allow ourselves to acknowledge, during this eclipse will likely come from inner work, self-reflection, and the need to know ourselves. If we don’t know who we are and what we want, we cannot build a worth-while fire within Leo. We need to be able to both identify our needs and also claim them as valid. It’s one thing to have desire, it’s another to be ashamed of desire and willingly turn away from it.

Part of the work we need to do with this eclipse is letting go of self-judgement and limiting beliefs. We need to radically embrace who we are and what we desire. Individuality and authenticity around self is the cure for what ails the realm of Leo. This may mean that we’re getting real with ourselves, calling ourselves out, and forcing a reconciliation of the person we want to be and the person we pretend to be. This lunar event is void of the typical glitz and glam we’ve come to expect from Leo, because Ketu digs past the facade and shows us the heart of the matter.

We live in an age where we’re demonized for parroting the collective, and simultaneously attacked for stepping into an authentic expression of self. The New Moon eclipse in this decan is an initiation. It’s crowing a new king within the realm of Leo and leaving behind an old regime— the one that lead us towards self-sabotage and limited growth due to outward expectation.

To crown this new king, we will need strength, valor, courage, and faith in ourselves. There is no one that can do this work for us— this is self-work. We also have to accept the fact that there will be naysayers and that we will encounter pushback or negativity. The road to authenticity begins by fortifying ourselves for the strife that may result from living a deeper truth.

Something has got to give within your creative and intimate sphere. Whether it’s wanting more time with your art or rewiring your connection to intimacy and play, you can’t keep ignoring the urge to indulge. Start the journey of being selfish with your pleasure.

Focus on what it will take to rebuild the fire in your home life. If you’ve lost the spark or feel lacking, let this be the start of a new journey. Invest your time and energy into a project that feels deeply personal— something like a childhood dream.

This is a bolstered New Moon for you, as the Moon will be in its Joy! Pay deep attention to the messages in your dreams and synchronicities within the world around you. The way you speak your mind or what your mind ruminates on is about to change.

Career and finances may go through a transition, but it’s in the name of finding more aligned footing. This is the start of a much larger process. Do not doubt your capabilities within work— staying confident will lead to success and security.

This lunar event may feel like a personal attack, but I promise it’s not. The uncomfortable energy you feel is your heart asking for more space in your life. You cannot keep hiding core parts of yourself or shrinking for the comfortability of others.

Cutting out all the influence and noise of other people will allow you to clearly connect with what you think and what you need. It’s not selfish to care about self. Putting yourself first begins by reflecting on why you avoid doing so in the first place.

Having a big social network is great, but having an audience that actually cares about what you’re saying is better. Stop pandering to people who won’t ever care, no matter how loud you yell. Look for more authentic ways of expression and the audience will appear.

Whether it’s work or major life choices— make it about you. This is your life and it’s time to take control. You cannot keep crowning other people king and expecting things to go your way. Don’t follow blind ego, but do something that makes you proud.

Personal growth and understanding ego development are core parts of your studies. Every trip taken or book read is a means to better understand self and the life you’re living. It may be time to find a mentor or a method that pushes you beyond what you’ve previously done.

Your ego and sense of self are tied up in other people. Be patient as you learn how to best untangle this. Debts, death, and release may be part of your journey back to self. Contemplate what you’re willing to give up in order to regain autonomy and power.

There is a large part of your identity that is tied up in other people. This can be both personal and business related. Do not let others define you, but allow yourself to be warmed by the fire that a close connection brings. Collaboration is not a threat to autonomy.

Rebuilding your Fire means reconnecting with wellness and work. You’re looking to feel powerful in your body, and that begins by humbling yourself and embracing where you’re at in this moment. Rework your routines to accommodate new facets of self.
