Hey, it’s The Spotlight — I’m Katie Hind, Consultant Editor Showbusiness at the Daily Mail.

As England spiralled out of the World Cup on Saturday, it looked like every single British celebrity, from A to way beyond Z-list, was there.

But four bona fide big names were flying under the radar at a posh country house in the Lake District instead.

Spice Girl Melanie Chisholm - that’s Mel C to you and me - married hunky model Chris Dingwall with her former bandmates Emma Bunton, Geri Halliwell-Horner and Mel B in attendance.

True to form, Victoria Beckham didn’t show. But she did provide the bride’s dress - from her own wardrobe. Click here to hear the story behind that decision.

Sporty says ‘I do’: Mel C and Chris Dingwall on their wedding day

Of course, Mel wasn’t the only homegrown popstar to get hitched over the weekend. Yes, I’m talking about the man who’ll forever be known as one of Taylor Swift’s British exes.

Scruffy cigarette-puffing rocker Matty Healy wed his equally grungy American ‘It’ girl fiancée, Gabbriette Bechtel, at Madonna’s former estate in LA.

The whole thing reeked of Old Hollywood and was totally off-brand for the couple.

You know who would have loved it though? A certain squeaky clean popstar with an album called Life of a Showgirl and a well-documented obsession with Elizabeth Taylor.

So, is Matty really Taylor’s ‘one that got away’ after their 2023 fling? What does his mum - Coronation Street’s Denise Welch - make of it all?

And do you believe the whispers that Taylor deliberately scheduled her over-the-top Madison Square Garden nuptials before her ex’s, in an attempt to overshadow his big day?

The ex factor: Matty Healy and Gabbriette Bechtel’s wedding felt suspiciously Taylor-coded

The Tea: Which rock legend was spotted on a superyacht in Ibiza with his bikini-clad wife?

When Holly’s friends told me about her new project, Holly Willoughby Together, at the beginning of the year, I honestly had no idea what to expect. Britain’s biggest morning star, doing a show on YouTube?

Yesterday, I sat down with Holly for a sneaky peek - and she’s won me over.

Going solo: Holly Willoughby unveils her new YouTube venture after swapping the This Morning sofa for a brand new chapter

For far too long, Holly was forced to play second fiddle to Phillip Schofield while he visibly fumed that she was eclipsing him.

Now she’s come out of her shell and started to enjoy herself, and it shows.

That’s one major reason I predict Holly’s show will succeed where Claudia Winkleman’s failed. Surprisingly, given her star turn on The Traitors, Claudia was just not as watchable as Holly and appeared to be struggling to have a good time.

I’ve no doubt the BBC and ITV will be green with envy that Holly’s new show is on YouTube. And I wonder, who’ll be the next famous face to ditch the TV model and go it alone?

Football fashion: The World Cup final was the hottest ticket in Hollywood, with Beyonce turning the stadium into a catwalk while Timothée Chalamet and Kylie Jenner were spotted in the stands as well as A$AP Rocky and Rihanna

We didn’t have to look hard for a famous face this week. At the World Cup final we were spoilt for choice with the Beckhams being utterly themselves, Tom Cruise being ridiculous and Timothée Chalamet and Kylie Jenner kissing in public. Meanwhile Anya Taylor-Joy and Beyonce made football fashionable, while ASAP Rocky and Rihanna were also spotted in the stands.

Madonna, Shakira, Justin Bieber and even Miss Piggy performed in a lavish half-time show the likes of which no football match had ever seen.

Pundit Wayne Rooney summed it up nicely when asked for his opinion. ‘Absolute cr*p,’ he said.

They’re known as one of the happiest married couples in showbiz, but Mark Wright and Michelle Keegan are uncoupling... at least when it comes to making money, writes senior reporter Alex Doyle.

Mark and Michelle still share a £3.5million Essex mansion with their daughter Palma. But they’ve split their social media accounts and business accounts, and are quietly moving forward as separate entities. You’ll hardly even spot them on each other’s social media.

An insider admits: ‘They could cash in massively with a family TV show or couples gig but that hasn’t happened either.’ So what’s up with the couple? Click here to read Alex’s scoop.

Who could it be but the England WAGs?

After a hard-working month Stateside cheering and taking photos of their outfits, the likes of Kate Kane, Ashlyn Castro, Megan Pickford, Tolami Benson and Ellie Watkins have seen their online followings soar by tens of thousands.

WAGs to riches: Kate Kane, right, and Ashlyn Castro were among the stars of England’s World Cup campaign - at least on Instagram

But who lifts the influencer trophy? We reveal who really scored big in terms of social reach, who landed a profile in Vogue, and the stylist roped in to create custom Hugo Boss looks for one player’s whole family. And we crown our Influencer Correspondent’s ultimate World Cup WAG...

For the record

This week in 1986, Madonna was Number One with Papa Don’t Preach. Now, 40 years on, the Queen of Pop is sitting pretty on her throne, performing songs from her latest Number One album at the World Cup final halftime show.

What’s your take? Did Taylor Swift try to overshadow her ex Matty Healy with her wedding plans? Email us at spotlight@dailymail.co.uk and you might be featured in a future newsletter.

The Tea answer: Rod Stewart was seen soaking up the sunshine on-board a lavish superyacht with wife Penny Lancaster, while his thrill-seeking sons made a splash by plunging straight into the ocean.

See you next week!
