Meet Toast, a beautiful 7-year-old, 68-pound sweetheart with a gentle soul and plenty of love to give. While she may be a little shy when first meeting new people, she warms up quickly and soon shows off her affectionate personality, complete with lots of happy tail wags. If you're looking for a calm, loyal companion to share life's quieter moments, Toast may be exactly who you've been searching for.
Since settling into her foster home, Toast has shown just how easy she is to live with. She is wonderfully housetrained and continues to maintain a 100% success rate in her foster home. Whether relaxing in her crate or spending time around the house, Toast is calm, quiet, and incredibly well behaved. She has had no destructive behavior when left alone and continues to prove herself to be a trustworthy houseguest. More than anything, she simply enjoys being close to the humans she loves.
Toast established herself as an excellent walking companion. She strolls along on a loose leash, enjoys taking in the sights and smells, and happily keeps pace with her person. Calm, attentive, and easy to guide, she walks with wonderful manners and remains under control even when she spots other dogs or friendly neighbors. She'll sometimes offer her signature deep little "hello" bark to announce she's noticed someone and is quick to continue on her way. She already knows "sit," politely waits to have her leash clipped on before walks, and sits nicely for mealtime, showing off her excellent manners.
One of Toast's sweetest qualities is how much she loves being close to her people. Her foster says she wants nothing more than to stay nearby, quietly keeping you company throughout the day. Whether you're working from home, reading on the couch, or simply moving from room to room, Toast is happiest knowing her favorite person is close by. She absolutely loves affection and companionship-her foster rates her desire to snuggle and be near her people at 100%! She is the kind of dog who doesn't need constant entertainment; simply being beside her person is enough to make her happy.
Toast continues to charm everyone she meets. From neighborhood strolls to visits at PetSmart and even lunch at White Oak Tavern, she has proven herself to be a polite, well-mannered companion wherever she goes. She enjoys meeting new people and happily accepts attention from admirers with her calm, friendly demeanor. She also remains a wonderful passenger in the car, always ready for the next outing with her favorite person.
She enjoys chew toys, leisurely walks, cozy car rides, and simply sitting outside with her favorite human, taking in the world together. Her foster describes her as the perfect companion for someone seeking a relaxed lifestyle-a dog whose quiet presence somehow makes every day feel a little more peaceful. Although she's generally calm, she's also wonderfully observant and makes her person feel safe on walks because she notices everything happening around her. She's just big enough and just vocal enough to offer a reassuring sense of security without ever being difficult to handle.
Toast has continued to do well with the resident dog in her foster home. Even while recovering and on kennel rest, the dogs remain calm and comfortable together when they are around one another. They peacefully shared the couch, rode together in the car, and exchanged polite sniffs around the house. While they're more respectful roommates than best friends, they've settled into a comfortable routine together. Toast has met other dogs at the shelter and does best with gentle, polite canine companions. She may enjoy a compatible dog friend but isn't looking for a high-energy playmate, so thoughtful introductions with any future canine housemates are recommended.
Toast has experience around children and has previously been described as gentle and well mannered with people. Above all, Toast is a gentle, affectionate dog who simply loves people. She has a quiet way of making herself part of the family, whether she's resting at your feet, following you from room to room, joining you for a car ride, or simply enjoying your company. Her calm demeanor, excellent manners, and loving personality make her the kind of companion who asks for very little but gives so much in return.
Toast's foster says it best: she's great. She's the same wonderful dog she has always been-affectionate, easygoing, and happiest when she's near her person.
If you're looking for an affectionate, easygoing dog with a heart full of love, wonderful manners, and a calm presence that will make your house feel even more like home, Toast is ready to meet you.
