People are well-intentioned. I love them so. Since few read my posts (insert smile), many have jumped to the conclusion I have already published my first book (insert wider smile). Not yet, but I join them in their anticipatory excitement because I will reach that plateau soon!!!
March 30, 2025 - after checking my Microsoft Word stats, I learned that this was the first day I started working on my forthcoming memoir "Getting Over It." On this date, I wrote my first song in desperation of what I was feeling at that time. I felt so lost without him. I didn't know what else to do.
After I wrote that first song, I wrote 40 more. None of this would have ever occurred to me had I not been inspired by my friend Eugene D Gregory who shared with me his intrinsic talents of music composition and lyricism.
March 2, 2026 - I can hardly believe it, but I actually finished the writing portion of my book. 300,000 words later, I'm beaming like the Cheshire Cat from Alice in Wonderland because the hard part is now done.
The creative process involves a significant amount of effort. For me, it involved the challenging process of recall--forcing myself to remember exact dates, details, and memories to help me in my descriptions. I was meticulous about it, though, writing with creative minutiae and incorporating as much detail as I could, with the end goal of helping the reader fully visualize what I experienced, what I went through, and the radical highs and lows of a fake romantic relationship.
In the middle of everything, I started planning my book launch party even before I have self-published my book. The order in which I do things may not make sense to others, but they make sense to me as I prepare myself to launch with an audience already in place.
My excitement is real. I feel my own heart palpitating with a nervous creative energy. Not every person is brave enough to do what I do, but I am thrilled to be me. I am the original Creative Idea Gal and I will always have that moniker for the rest of my life.
I take my work very seriously--all of it--from concept to execution of DMV Shorts Magazine dance videos to my creative observations as the Creative Idea Gal until I reach my book publishing goals with Socci Books Publishing.
