Spiritually Agile

For twenty years, as a fitness professional, I have taught people how to move.

Before that I was a child athlete.

So it’s safe to say, as a lifelong “mover,” I understand the power of agility.

Agility is the ability to change direction without losing momentum. It’s adapting in real time. It’s staying balanced while everything around you shifts.

But no amount of athletic training prepared me for what I would learn about spiritual agility.

The last six and a half months in Spain have required this new skill every single day.

Which is wildly beautiful, because when people imagine transformation, they often picture certainty. They imagine a clear vision, a detailed roadmap, or a straight line between where they are and where they’re going.

Well I am here to tell you, no! Wrong. This rarely happens, yall. So do yourself a solid and stop expecting it.

I sure did.

For over half a year, I have been pivoting nonstop.

Changing plans.

Changing direction.

Releasing expectations.

Following nudges that didn’t always make logical sense.

Allowing doors to close without forcing them back open.

Trusting new doors before I could see what was behind them.

And yet, somehow, with every pivot…

I’ve won.

But let’s be clear, it has not always been the win I expected.

But instead, the win I needed.

I’ve learned that spiritual agility isn’t about having all the answers.

It’s about remaining available to the next moment. The moment right in front of you.

It’s the willingness to let go of what made sense yesterday when something deeper is asking for your attention today.

It’s trusting that divine guidance rarely arrives as a five-year plan.

I know for sure now that it actually arrives as the next step.

Then the next.

Then the next.

As athletes, we’re taught that hesitation slows us down.

Keep this energy if winning is your spiritual goal.

Spain has become my training ground for this RADical lesson and life changing realization.

So I hope you find the ability to remain aligned while uncertainty is present.

I hope you stay open when plans change.

I hope you stay grateful when outcomes shift.

I hope you stay trusting when the “plan” disappears.

Anyone can have faith when the road is straight.

Spiritual agility is what happens when the road dips off unexpectedly and you discover that your soul already knows how to turn.

May we all live a life where the goal isn’t to avoid change. But, to embrace it and gracefully adapt to it.

Because I can say without a doubt, while this has be one of the most challenging eras of my life. It’s also been the era where it’s clear I am not only strong, but agile.

Agility over everything!
