Cozy Journaling

Journaling can be a wonderful way to plan things, take notes, save quotes or wind down. It can be a place for sketches, stickers, or even junk.

Today I’d like to show you how I enjoy journaling.

When it comes to notebooks, I’d have to call myself a collector. I have a wide range of styles from Field Notes to large no brand notebooks. I’ve personally never tried Leuchtturm notebooks, Moleskins, or Midoris. I do own a Hobonichi Weeks, but that’s a planner. I did, however, recently purchase a Moleskin to try out, I’ll let you know how it compares to my current favorite, Paperage.

Anyway, when it comes to my gaming journal I like to take notes on things I’m collecting, games I’ve been playing, or even break down things I found interesting in games.

Here are some ideas if you are interested in starting your own gaming journal:

• Games you are currently playing

• Games you want to play

• Sketches of your character or inventory

• Quests completed or needing to complete

• Favorite locations or NPCs

• Notes on plants/ animals found in games

Lately I’ve been playing a lot of Tamagotchi Plaza. It’s full of different mini games that earn you Gotchi or money, which is used to upgrade the shops. My favorite mini games are The Night Pool, the Tailor Shop, and the Galette Shop. But today I want to put a focus on my top 4 most adorable Tamagotchi’s currently in my town.

Now that I know what I want to journal about I can get everything ready. For me, that starts with the game.

Im going to scroll through my Tamagotchi contacts and find my 4 cutest tamagotchis and write them down, then rank them 1-4.

My top 4:

3. Welcotchi

4. Woopatchi

Find something from a game you’ve been playing recently and make your own ranking list or try another gaming journal idea!

I want my entry to cover two pages, so it will be a drawing spread. I’m thinking the left side can have a title and my number one Tamagotchi and the right side can have the other three.

Once you have your idea, plan your layout. Use a spare sheet of paper and draw shapes to represent any drawings you want to make or arrange stickers with their backing still on to get an idea of where you want them. This helps gauge how much space you have left for any writing if you wish to add some.

With the layout complete, I can start my sketches. I’ll search for references and grab my art supplies.

Try it
Using your layout, start drawing or placing your stickers. If you will be writing, save that for last so you can be sure it all fits.

Once the sketch is complete it’s time for lines and color. I’m adding names and a small background to make them pop.
