Uranus in Gemini is doing some very interesting things in the coming days, and you should probably pay attention. As Uranus is in Gemini (my sign), I too am doing something worthy of your attention—i.e.: exploring astrology through a cultural and humorous lens (more on why that is ⬇️).
Let’s start by addressing the elephant in the inbox: it is the middle of the week, which means you are either thriving, surviving, or still avoiding reading and replying to that text so-and-so sent you on Sunday. Mercury is still retrograde, so statistically it’s the third one. (Me? I’m avoiding that text and recouping from the incessant crying instigated by the Cancer New Moon. Was I crying tears of frustration? Or sobbing over the incessant itching of my newly-returned perioral dermatitis? Verdict’s still out.) Either way, you’re here, the sky is doing stuff worth talking about (again), and I have thoughts. Lots of thoughts. So, let’s get to it.
Uranus in Gemini sextiles Neptune Retrograde in Aries on July 15th, and so begins the formation of the Barbault Basket (*cue dramatic music*). If you are feeling more concerned about your future and how your individual piece fits into the puzzle of the collective, that is this astrology. There’s electric clarity swirling about that is very beneficial for those of us who have been feeling stuck, either from writer’s block or life-blockTM. On July 18th, Uranus in Gemini trines Pluto Retrograde in Aquarius. This is a rare, generational aspect. So, the last time these two harmonized this way, society was in the middle of restructuring things that had seemed permanently fixed. (Doesn’t that sound familiar?) In the two air signs, the restructuring is in how we think, communicate, connect, and collectively organize. Viva la radical shifts in tech and broken systems, I say. (“Greenland needs to be taken!” or “The SAVE ACT must be law!” is what orange-faced asshats might also say.) On a y-o-u level, this can help you unshackle yourself from fear or control. Personal freedom is the name of the game—and I mean that in a five-women-in-platform-boots-telling-the-world-exactly-what-they-want-what-they-really-really-want way. Mars in Gemini sextiles Saturn in Aries on July 19th, and it’s surprisingly productive. The things you are actually committed to can get done with less resistance than anticipated. Does that mean they will be easy? No, but they are easier. Mars is your drive and Saturn is your discipline, and right now, they are briefly cooperating. If you use this window to get some hard work done: excellent. If you spend it reorganizing your notes app: also fine, Mercury is retrograde, we don’t judge here.
Something happens in your mid-thirties where you start doing things that you really wanted to do at 25, but were too embarrassed and shy to try, but now believe you have all the gusto in the world to do. Which I guess is how I suddenly ventured into stand-up comedy. It’s something I’ve yearned to do as far back as 2018, but only recently did I summon the courage to go to an Open Mic (at a real comedy club) on July 2nd. What’s worse: I’ve done two more open mics since!
I know, I know—you’re thinking: You made your stand-up comedy debut during Cancer Season AND Mercury Retrograde? But in my defense, Jupiter in Leo’s recent move into my 1st House has really been goading me to get out there in newer, bigger ways. “Expand yourself and your horizons! Build your confidence! It’ll be fun,” Jupiter said. But the Jupiter joke’s on me, because making people laugh (at me) while I nervously (awkwardly) pace back and forth on a teensy-tiny stage, feeling multiple levels of mortification and temporary insanity isn’t exactly the confidence-builder I thought it would be. Similarly, I am not the confident, carefree, LMAO comedian I thought I would be. Because real life isn’t anything like The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. Ah, deceptive Neptune, thy name is Camille!
All that to say: I’ve got to work on my routine. So, expect more comedy-laden newsletters in the future.
