Baldur’s Gate 2 remake with original BioWare Lead Designers

By the children of Bhaal, Wizards of the Coast may be heading back to the world of Faerûn with a remake of Baldur’s Gate II. According to PC Gamer, the game originally made by BioWare, could be releasing once more with former developers on the project.
Co-lead designer of Baldur’s Gate II Kevin Martens is said to be returning to work on the remake. He previously worked on Throne of Bhaal, an expansion for the second game. He’s no stranger to the Dungeons and Dragons’ Sword Coast having also worked on Neverwinter Nights. Martens is working with WOTC on the sci-fi game Exodus at the moment, but as a contributor, leaving him a more open schedule to work on Baldur’s Gate II. It’s also rumored that Baldur’s Gate I may be getting a remake as well with the second game continuing the story of the first.
At this point, it’s all just rumor. There isn’t any indication of what style the game will be in, if it’s more to Beamdog’s enhanced versions or fully committing to Baldur’s Gate 3. I doubt the second will see an update of that caliber, but we could hope.
It looks like we will be running from rats once again this year as the third game in the Plague Tale series is releasing in 2026. This according to a post on the official X (Twitter) account of the series.
Asobo Studio reported that A Plague Tale: Innocence sold more than one million copies in 2020. A Plague Tale: Requiem sold more than three million copies since its release in 2022. The number only looks good for Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy which is set 15 years before the events in the A Plague Tale series. It will launch on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and Steam.
The ESA’s 2026 Essential Facts report shows that more than 212 Americans play video games at least one hour per week. The average age range is between 18 to 34 with 29% tying with age 50 plus.
That demographics are split by generations with kids, Gen Alpha, and Gen Z hovering around the lower to mid 80% range. Millennials came in next at 71% with parents who game with their kids at 63%.

In a time when the cost for Valve’s Steam Deck is ridiculously high, the company announced it is still shipping the Steam Machine this year. In an official blog post, it was revealed the new gaming console is expected to release this summer.
While still no word on a price for it, it’s going to be quite expensive with RAM and storage costing extra. With summer approaching quickly, a price announcement is expected to drop soon as well.
Paramount, the company that pushed out Stephen Colbert, one of late night’s biggest nerds and kind-hearted Lord of the Rings fans, is getting into gaming. Paramount announced it is combining its Skydance game studios, Skydance Interactive and Skydance New Media, with Paramount’s intellectual property.
“There is no more powerful fan relationship than one where you put someone inside a world. Games are the ultimate expression of that,” said President Tony Driscoll.
According to Variety, this has not stopped Skydance New Media’s development on “Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra” and an untitled Star Wars game. Its first game will be announced during Summer Game Fest.
