Happy New Year, Berlin! (Yes, I Know It’s January 16th)
Welcome to 2026!
I know, I know – we’re two weeks in, and this newsletter has been quieter than a U-Bahn car at 6 AM on a Sunday. But unlike that one friend who’s still “definitely going to start going to the gym” after the holidays, we’re actually here now.
🌍 Why This Newsletter Exists (Besides My Love For Events)
I started Connect Climate Berlin because I believe in the power of bringing people together with similar interests. In our case, that’s a shared purpose to build a better world aligned with the SDGs – you know, people and planet first, profit second stuff.
🌍 A Year of Passion Projects and Procrastination
This newsletter has been my passion project, connecting our local Berlin climate community and showcasing changemakers who are actually making a difference. While the rest of Berlin argues about whether Neukölln or Kreuzberg is “more authentic,” we’ve been highlighting people doing real climate work. ✊
🌍 2025’s Greatest Hits
Last year, we launched Connect Climate TV, featuring three local changemakers making waves: Izzy Ahrbeck, Angeley Mullins, and Coral Ruz.
🌍 The Existential Crisis Chapter
Where do we want this newsletter to go in 2026?
I’ve been grappling with this question for weeks now. As you’ve noticed, it’s blocked me from publishing anything in December and January – making me officially more delayed than Berlin’s new airport was. (Too soon? It’s been open since 2020, so probably not.)
🌍 Dreams of a More Connected Community
What I’d love to see more of this year: stronger cross-event collaborations in our sustainability community.
Imagine People Planet Pint connecting with Impact Hub.
What collaborations would you like to see? Besides finally getting a direct tram line from Neukölln to Prenzlauer Berg, obviously.
🌍 The Big Announcement
Going forward, this newsletter is evolving into a quarterly event digest.
Think of it as your curated guide to sustainability happenings in Berlin – without the FOMO-inducing frequency that makes you feel guilty for not attending everything.
Stick Around, Won’t You?
I hope you’ll stick around for this new chapter.
And if you have ideas or feel inspired to join our newsletter crew, reach out to me. We promise the commitment level is lower than your gym membership and more rewarding than finding an apartment in Berlin under €1000 warm.
See you at the next event, JOMO friend.
