You’re probably here for the shopping, but first, I must share some small Concrete Treehouse 2.0 updates that have sparked so much joy recently!
If you’re new here, I’ve lived in the same NYC studio apartment for around seven years and am redecorating for the first time now. In this post from January, I shared some of my inspo—still unmistakably feminine, single-girl vibes, but softer, calmer, and more whimsical vs. screaming in color.
If any of you are from TikTok or Instagram, you might remember that I built my following sharing my OG apartment design and insanely colorful, bubblegum, cotton-candy decor style, complete with a Tiffany blue velvet couch, a palm tree lamp, and, in the end, way, way too much lucite. I won’t lie, I may be personally responsible for the sheer amount of plastic littering our beautiful planet today.
Thankfully, Facebook Marketplace has become somewhat of a second income, and clear-ly, what’s one late-20-something’s trash is another young-20-something’s treasure.
Anyway, in the past few months I’ve:
Reupholstered my couch in the most gorgeous, decadent chocolate brown velvet (a designer discard slay!), had the hobnails removed, and custom walnut legs built to replace the…lucite and polished gold ones. I hate to suggest going neutral, but upon delivery from my fabulous reupholsterer, Bettertex in SoHo, I swear my nervous system completely relaxed at first sight of this deep, dark brown.
Added a new rug courtesy of the fabulously chic team at Lulu and Georgia. This is the Rajaa rug in Blush from the Sarah Sherman Samuel collab and it is, in my humble opinion, the most perfect pretty pink rug—feminine without veering into little-kid/baby-girl territory.
Found my dream floor lamp from West Elm. In my early moodboarding, I realized a recurring theme was lily pad ponds (yes, my Pinterest feed has also been littered with Kate Zimmerman Turpin art). The wavy shade makes me feel like I’m being shaded—or, technically, illuminated—by a life-size flower.
And, of course, collected many, many tiny treats to pepper around my coffee table, which I have affectionately named the lily pad pond. It’s my dream piece and the perfect stage for my vast collection of little decorative bits, bobs, and treasures.
