Even Less

Straight to it, Voyage 35 activity continues in the background while we gear up for our debut tour dates in September.

For anyone who has been following the developments, we’ve so far only released our version of The Nostalgia Factory, a few months ago now. It was always our intention to include in the set some of the slightly later material alongside the earlier psychedelic moments, the original Even Less comes from the better known, later period, but still not major label era, Stupid Dream album.

Again, this is small taste of the live band (minus Fruit Salad Lights because this was filmed in rehearsals) and what you can expect if you come to see us in concert, with Wes, Alessandro Vagnoni, Lef and myself.

I’m playing the same Wal fretless bass I played on the original recording, it still fits fantastically well. As with Nostalgia Factory we’ve kept the vibe as true to a live performance as possible, with minimal production and few overdubs.

Always a live favourite, this version has lead vocals from John Wesley with Lef adding some some harmonised vocal parts as the song progresses. Footage of the rehearsals in Italy earlier this year, has been whipped in to a watchable form by Skyrals.

I am hoping there’s an obvious chemistry between the four of us on display here, and also it’s clear that everyone has an affinity with the music and that this is good demonstration of our mission to honour and elevate the originals. As I might have said before, there’s a fine line between respecting an original source but taking it somewhere different and making something your own, I like to think we’ve managed to do just that. Hopefully, you’ll agree!

Voyage 35’s Even Less will also appear on all the usual digital platforms later this month, and I will update this post in due course with links to Quobuz, Apple and the like, but for now we are “windowing” this release with availability limited to YouTube and Bandcamp only for now:

If Taylor Swift can window, then so can Voyage 35.
