There is a special kind of devastation that comes from watching someone tell a polished version of your life while you are sitting there knowing what actually happened.
You know the conversations that happened behind closed doors. You know how many times you were pressured, undermined, threatened, blamed, or pushed into impossible situations. You know what your children have experienced. And then you sit across from a professional and watch the other parent present themselves as calm, reasonable, cooperative, and deeply concerned about the children.
You may find yourself thinking, How am I supposed to counter all the lies?
You are not going to build credibility by becoming better at performing than the person who is performing. You build it by creating documentation that remains coherent when the emotion is removed, the accusations are separated from the facts, and the behavior is examined over time.
