Commander J. Kevin Logan officially stepped down from the office of President of Clan Logan Society International at the Annual General Membership meeting on July 18, 2026. This will allow him to devote more of his time to the search for the Chief of Name and Arms of Logan. I am excited and honored to be taking the reins not only as the first female in the role, but also the first Society President to be living in Scotland.
I’d like to first acknowledge the years of service and dedication Kevin has given to the Society. He became a member in 2016 and went from Clan Tent Host to Vice President under James C. Logan until James stepped down in 2022. We would certainly not be where we are today without Kevin. He took action to move the Logan family forward to a convention, had a vision for the Society and the work to be done, and continues the search for the Chief of Name and Arms of Logan. For all of this and more, we owe him a debt of gratitude.
From our Logan hearts, thank you Kevin for your years of service. As you continue in your new role as Commander of Logans worldwide, we are here to support you and work together to bring to all Logans prestige, honor, and pride in our heritage.
My plans as President are to continue with the many projects already underway, but to also bring new ideas. The Society board is an exceptional team of volunteers that all work together giving countless hours of volunteer time. Often this work goes unnoticed. But we all have the same ultimate goal, which is to create a growing Logan family, to inspire our members, to continue with genealogy research, and to locate and catalogue important historical Logan documents, names, and places.
I welcome new ideas, new voices, and new volunteers with open arms and hope you will share your thoughts and ideas with me. And if you want to be involved in a project or committee, please let me know.
I am excited to welcome as appointed officers Caleb E. Logan as Vice President and Joanne Logan as Treasurer. Caleb continues to serve as our Heritage Officer, and Joanne continues as Event Coordinator. Also continuing on the board are:
Sean Logan, Lead Genealogist
Linda Street-Ely, Editor-in-Chief and Elections Chair
Marlee Logan, Social Media Coordinator and Genealogy Team
Charles (Ed Logan), Clan Convener
Jamie Drouet, Webmaster
James C. Logan, President Emeritus
Commander J.Kevin Logan, Ex-officio
One of the biggest projects planned for the year is to write a Clan Tent Host Policy & Procedure Manual for those hosting a Clan Logan tent at a Highland Games event. The outline of the plan is already underway and the hope is by December the first printing of the booklet will be ready to share with new hosts.
We are actively looking for people interested in hosting clan tents in areas that do not currently have a Clan Logan tent host. There are plenty of opportunities to volunteer and lots of areas available. Some of the larger states – Utah, Texas, Idaho – do not have hosts, as well as most of the East Coast area of the USA, plus New Zealand, Australia, and Canada need Clan Logan tents. If you live in an area with Highland Games and are interested in being a host, I would love to hear from you.
Hosting a clan tent is one of the ways we can get the word out to large numbers of people who are interested in Scottish culture. If you are interested in participating, please email me at president@clanlogansociety.org.
