A small request.
Over the years (it’s hard to believe but I’ve been writing this blog for almost 30 years now!), Lutheran Confessions has found far more readers than I ever imagined. That’s happened almost entirely because people have shared an essay with someone else.
If these essays have been worthwhile to you, would you think of one person who might appreciate them too? A family member. Your pastor. A colleague. A friend. Anyone who’s been trying to figure out what faith looks like while weathering the dominance and depravity of conservative Christianity. Someone who still believes the local church matters (because it does!). Someone who just enjoys thinking about theology as they relate to current events.
You could simply send them this:

This morning I’m sitting in a little cafe directly between the church I’ll be preaching at Sunday (The Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Holy Trinity)1 and a farmer’s market out front of the Juilliard School and the Lincoln Center for the performing arts. Continuing conversations today, tomorrow and Monday with non-profits and ministries focused on LGBTQIA+ shelter models. Here are a few photos:
Holy Trinity is famous for, among other things, being stepped on by the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man in Ghostbusters (1984), about which Peter Venkman says, ““Nobody steps on a church in my town!”
