Hello from Clemo,
Since Thursday 30 July Clemo Books has been popping up at community venues, local green spaces and Newquay Library as part of the StoryFest Newquay celebration of books. It’s been AMAZING!
There is one event left - Tuesday 25 August, 10:30am on the Killacourt Bandstand. CRAIG BARR-GREEN will be taking to the stage with his usual flare and gusto. I’d say it is an event little ones won’t want to miss, we want the little amphitheatre filled with families.
It’s FREE and all children attending will receive a free book to take home with them. Perfect for ages 4 to 8 all you need to do is get a free ticket online or sign up at Newquay Library - this is just so we know how many people to expect and books to order.
At the end of the month-long festival I have to recap to Penguin how it went and I think its just going to be pages and pages of me gushing about how cute our community are and what a wonderful opportunity this has been for Newquay.
I hope you get involved with this last event it’ll be a wonderful one and supporting local businesses with events like these means we might have more chance of securing funding in the future.
Please share with your friends with little ones and we’ll see you on the green above the beach next week!
Happy reading, Jaimie
Join us at the Killacourt Bandstand for a FREE fun-filled storytelling event with Craig Barr-Green on Tuesday 25 August at 10:30am. The last StoryFest Newquay event!
We’ll be going on an adventure with Gina Kaminski, Craig’s most adventurous storybook character, and you’ll get to witness all of the author’s excitement on stage.
StoryFest Newquay is hosted by Clemo Books in partnership with Newquay Library and Newquay Town Council and funded by the Penguin Children’s Bookshop Grant to celebrate the National Year of Reading 2026.
I wrote a blog post about what it’s like seeing little book worms grow up from behind the bookshop counter. I sound like a wisened crone at times but I feel really privileged to be a tiny part of their childhood.
Check out this post on our socials to see StoryFest Newquay so far! The energy and excitement is palpable through your screeeeeens.
Thanks for reading! This post is public so feel free to share it.
