Hello from Clemo,
Well done to all of the little book worms, and their teachers, for making it to the summer holidays! Newquay is a vibe right now and we’re hopeful this sunshine might just stick for the 6 week break. Clemo Books will be open every day for browsing beach reads.
Half of team Clemo is pitching up at Rock Oyster Festival this weekend whilst the rest of the team are in store on Newquay’s Bank Street for business as usual. Hopefully see you on the high street or in the high top this weekend!
And THANK YOU for all the love for StoryFest Newquay! We’re so excited to get going with our first events Wyl Menmuir on Thursday 30 July and Becca Rogers on Friday 31 July. You can find free tickets to these events below. We hope you get involved with the free author-led sessions happening throughout the summer holidays and join in for the love of booooks.
Happy reading, Jaimie
A day out is not complete without a trip to the bookshop! If you’re visiting us for the first time this summer check out our location and add us to your trip itinerary, have a browse of our google reviews whilst you’re at it - they’re all very wholesome. And thanks to everyone who has ever popped by and left us a review (we sit and look at them with beaming smiles).
Embark on a creative writing outdoor workshop with Booker Prize nominated author Wyl Menmuir. For ages 13 - 16 this free event will be a wonderful opportunity for young people to be outside in nature, ask curious questions and possibly spark a new offline hobby.
Settle in at Newquay Library for a storytelling and creative writing workshop with Becca Rogers, a middle grade author with a passion for adventure. Perfect for ages 8-12 youngsters will explore stories and hopefully discover new fictional friends.
I always forget to share about our book club! If you’d like to join us for August’s pick it will be arriving in the bookshop shortly. Pop by the store with any questions, ask via social media or email us.
We meet up on the first Monday of the month, 7pm, at Concho Lounge in Newquay. It’s a nice bunch of folks and the books are always new releases and vary in genre. It’s not a serious book club in the sense there are no questions, just a chit chat.
You can pop in and purchase the book each month, subscribe to Clemo Club and pay monthly, support us via Libro FM or if you’re super organised get it from the library.
