Renaming one of the Great Lakes isn't bringing justice to a cause where it has long been denied. It’s trolling our friends. It’s an asshole move. If the contest is to prove who is the biggest asshole, congratulations, Donald Trump, you win.
Renaming Lake Ontario to Lake America isn't something that just one homophobic racist game show host should decide. If this was something that was needed, or the public was clamoring for, then it should be decided by both countries, the United States and Canada. That's what we would do if we were a good friend, but we are not.
This isn't like tearing down statues that honor Confederate racists, which, of course, Donald Trump is against. It's not like removing the names of enemies of America from American military bases in favor of black American war heroes, which, of course, Donald Trump has reverted the names of the bases to the old racist enemies of our country. It's not like taking the name McKinley off Mount Denali, which native Americans have been referring to it as for centuries, until Donald Trump came along and returned McKinley’s name to the mountain. Lake Ontario has been Lake Ontario for centuries, before there was a Canada or a United States. Honestly, I'm shocked Donald Trump didn't try to slap his own name on the lake because he's trying to put it on everything else.
Fun facts about the Great Lakes for my fellow nerds: If you spread the water from the Great Lakes across the entire United States, it would cover the country in nearly 10 feet of water.
Lake Superior is so large and deep that it holds more water than all the other four Great Lakes combined plus three extra Lake Eries.
Isle Royale is a giant island in the middle of Lake Superior that has other lakes in it. Some of those lakes have islands. So basically, there are islands on an island in lakes on a lake.
Lake Erie is the warmest and shallowest of the lakes, meaning its water completely replaces itself every 2.6 years.
Because it is so cold and deep, water in Lake Superior takes nearly 200 years to fully replace. Lake Superior is so massive that it’s technically not a lake, but an inland sea.
At least 17 different indigenous tribes originated around the Great Lakes.
Lake Michigan is the only one of the Great Lakes to be completely within the United States.
An estimated 10,000 shipwrecks lie at the bottom of the Great Lakes due to sudden, violent storms, and yes, one of those ships is the Edmund Fitzgerald.
Gordon Lightfoot wrote songs that were much better than The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald.
Donald Trump is a racist grifting moron. OK, that has nothing to do with the Great Lakes, but it's still a fun fact.
There are 66 days left until the midterms.
Creative note: Obviously, I traced the Great Lakes from an image I found from a Google search…and it was a pain in the ass. These lakes have lots of tiny nooks and crannies, plus the lines were thin. I had to go over the map about five times just to get to the point that I was almost somewhat satisfied with it. And then I spent about three hours lettering it. Tracing helped with accuracy, but it was not a time saver, and it wasn't lazy.

Signed prints and books: I cannot take orders for signed prints or for my books at this time. So please do not send me money or place orders for them until further notice. Because of the stroke, it is an ordeal for me to get to the post office, so we’re gonna hold off until I’m fully capable of doing so. I appreciate your understanding.
Merch: Did you know there’s a Claytoonz store? My cartoons are printed on mugs, clothing, caps, and even a Peezy T-shirt. If you ever want a specific cartoon on some merch, let me know, and I’ll add it.
