Claudia Serrano · Claudia’s Substack

I have been thinking about starting a substack for a while now. I started reading subtacks last year. I first read Leandra Medine Cohen’s substack the Cereal Aile. She shares fashion content, I like her content because of her fun outfits that don’t seem to be a copy-paste of the current trends instead it’s her genuine style. She is the founder of Man Repeller which used to be a blog, and then a media company. Before the whole Man Repeller thing went down (if you know what happened we don’t want to get into that), I used to be a reader specifically because she has a very eclectic style, a unique approach to her style which was refreshing. It was quirky and fun. Nowadays going on social media, there’s nothing I have been able to find that fills the Man Repeller content’s void. (Just FYI not that I agree with Leandra’s mistakes, I just really enjoyed the content). Before that, there was also Rookie Mag which was fun and unique since it was a blog written by a 15-year-old that talked about fashion and feminism. It was funny to see the creator of Rookie Mag Tavi Gevinson later as Gossip Girl on the reboot. (sorry for the spoiler if you haven’t watched it). Then there was Tumblr, which I was obsessed with and could be a blog as well. The 2010s were both fun and chaotic.

After a while, I started finding more substacks to subscribe to like Magasin by Laura Reilly who has impeccable style. Her style is minimal and sexy and it always looks expensive because most of the time, it is. She seems to know what she’s doing and I can admit I am obsessed with her content. If I had her budget I would buy everything she shares on her substack. Lastly, I recently found Lilly Sisto from Latest Arrivals substack who also has great recommendations like timeless home finds to affordable staples for your closet. I will probably find even more substacks that fill my craving of reading interesting blogs. One person who feels like he has a blog while he doesn’t but he should is José Criales-Unzueta who is so smart, knows what he’s talking about, and has a good sense of humor. He’s fashion’s golden star, he should be running his own magazine in my opinion. His posts on Instagram and his articles for Conde Nast are so informative and entertaining. I have talked to him a couple of times through Instagram and he just gets it.

With all of this, I mean to bring to you our generation’s favorite trend “Nostalgia”. A substack is some sort of a blog and a blog reminisces the 2010s. If you are like me and love this blog format, that had lived and thrived through the early 2010s, then substack is for you. I will make another substack talking even deeper about our obsession with Nostalgia but for now, in this substack, I will share my thoughts on fashion, internet culture, pop culture and we will see what else.
