General election season is underway. This June 30, 2026, article from the PNW Post looks at ‘Political Violence; Trends and Corrective Action.’ The article notes: when we ignore small offenses, they lead to larger ones essentially giving permission to offenders to continue to use aggressive, even violent, tactics against someone they disagree with politically.
The Olympic Herald has been busy with suing Clallam County Superior Court and testing designs for a print edition. Yes, a print edition! The public can pick up sample copies that were left in the Clallam County Courthouse. Paid subscriptions are available and donations can be made through their new website.
4PA is less than $20,000 away from reaching their $80,000 fundraising goal by August 29th. Their donation page states:

Jon Purnell’s ‘Episode 12 — Bag of Tricks’ offers more professional insight during his ‘First Tour’ with the Department of Natural Resources from 1976 to 1979. The article is quite educational in terms of learning about the tools of the trade back in the good ol’ 1900s, which may or may not be the same today.
David Zelenka’s latest article ‘The Elwha and the Exchange’ is a ‘stream of consciousness’ that draws parallels between the natural workings of water and currency. It’s an enjoyable read for the description of his Elwha canoe trip and the philosophical view of currency.
‘The 2 Men I Married’ from SC shifts away from her journey through drug addiction to recovery and shares the story of her husband’s journey. As with all of SC’s articles, it’s another honest look at what drug addiction can do to a person and how the drugs change a person into someone completely different.
I also read it as a story of her husband’s redemption and their incredible bond. I’m glad to know that SC’s husband made it through his struggles and is now doing better for himself, his family, friends, and community. Comebacks and staying-together stories are my favorites!
Jason Backus’ article this week is a combination mystery and cliffhanger — what’s in the envelope, and will he execute his goal? I’m looking forward to reading the results of his ‘Fridge Oath’ experiment.

A look at what goes on around my property late at night in August. A week and a half ago, a family of raccoons set our cameras off all night.
They returned Tuesday night for more of the same.
As of 4:45pm on August 11, 2026, only 44% of the ballots had been counted, just 1% more than August 10th.
No major differences; Jake is still leading for Clallam County Commissioner District 3. Marcia Kelbon continues to lead for Legislative District 24, Position 2.
