What’s going in Bitcoin Core v32

Good morning,

The feature-freeze deadline for the next major Bitcoin Core release, v32, has recently passed. In today’s newsletter, I’m discussing what major features, or as my Ethereum readers might call them, headliners, have made it into the release.

Much of the information I gleaned for today’s post was gleaned from a recent conversation I had with a Bitcoin Core contributor who will be joining me as a recurring guest on the Ready for Merge podcast this upcoming season.

The feature freeze deadline for Bitcoin Core v32 passed last Thursday, August 20. Now, developers are focusing on bug fixes and minor optimizations only for the next major version of Bitcoin Core software.

For my Ethereum readers, this milestone in the development process for the Bitcoin Core client is akin to reaching the consensus- and execution-layer specification freeze deadline for Ethereum hard-fork upgrades.
