Kamyar Shah · Chief’s Operating Officers Newsletter

I’ve spent 25 years working with small- and mid-market businesses as a fractional COO and CMO. Not advising from the outside. Actually, inside running operations, fixing leadership gaps, rebuilding go-to-market functions, and cleaning up the accumulated improvisation that passes for strategy in most growing companies.

I’ve done this across technology, healthcare, manufacturing, and professional services. Companies from $5M to $100M in revenue. The problems are different on the surface. Underneath, they’re the same six or seven problems recycled with different logos.

This publication exists because those patterns are worth writing down.

What I write about:

Operational clarity on what it actually takes to run a business that scales without breaking. The decisions leaders avoid until they become crises. The structural problems that look like people problems. The difference between a company that grows and one that just gets more complicated.

I’m not writing a newsletter about entrepreneurship. I’m writing about the operational and leadership reality of running a real business in the $5M–$100M range, the part most business content skips because it’s less glamorous than fundraising or product launches.

Who I am:

Kamyar Shah. MBA. Fractional COO and CMO. I’ve been cited in Forbes and 13 other publications as a subject-matter expert in this space. I work with a small number of clients at a time, directly, not through a team of junior consultants.
