Lately, I’ve been thinking about how easy it is to abandon our dreams right now.

There’s war. Collapse. Heatwaves. AI doing everything better, faster, cleaner.

Our nervous systems are fried, and the world is asking us to be efficient, reactive, and prepared — but never creative.

And in the middle of that, the idea of making something can feel… ridiculous.
Or selfish. Or trivial. Or, at the very least, unnecessary.

But what if creating something — anything — is exactly what this moment asks of us?

It’s very interesting how we convince ourselves that everything else is more important than pursuing our own dreams.

But creating is one of the few acts of agency we have in a world that says “you’re too small to enact change” and that moves WAY too fast.

So the art of making becomes a quiet protest.
It’s like saying:
I still believe in something. I still believe in me. In hope. In beauty. In love.

Amie McNee speaks to this so powerfully in her TEDx talk:
“Stop fucking around and create something.”

Because yes — we are being trained to consume, scroll, react, optimize.

But when you finally decide to notice where your attention is going and choose to step into your own process of creation, instead of being a passive spectator of everyone else’s, you’re choosing meaning in a time of noise.

In a time that treats your attention as currency.

The rise of AI is another reminder of why we need to become even more devoted to our creativity — not less.

Because AI is going to keep getting better.
It will do what we used to do.
It will do it faster, with less fatigue, and more consistency.

But AI doesn’t dream.
It doesn’t feel heartbreak or awe or grief.
It doesn’t sense beauty or sit with mystery.

And this next era we’re walking into?
It’s going to need your genius.
Your messy, nonlinear, soul-sourced, deeply human genius.

Not just because you deserve to create —
but because the world is going to need creators more than ever.

People who can think freely and make meaning beyond what’s been prepackaged or prompted.

And honestly… it’s not just about us.

It’s about the future we’re building.
For our communities.
And for our children.

So don’t wait until it makes sense.
Don’t wait for clarity.
Or permission.
Or a perfect plan.

Create now. Especially now.

And even though some mornings I open my laptop and think, What’s the point?
Every time I create something honest, or post something a little raw, or just sit down and make anything — I remember why I’m here.

So I’ll ask you:
What’s the thing you’ve been avoiding because it feels too small, too slow, or too self-indulgent?
