Holy moly, what a wonderful but extra full summer!! I feel like every time we finally got into some sort of routine, something came up. We were packing for another trip, family was coming into town, work picked up, or we were just saying yes to something fun! Honestly, I wouldn’t change any of it!! Summer is supposed to feel a little chaotic, and I feel very lucky for all the fun we’ve had, but by the end of it Jake and I both looked at each other and realized we just didn’t really feel like ourselves anymore.

It wasn’t about weight or how we looked. We just missed the routines that make us feel our best. Somewhere along the way we’d kind of turned everything into a reward. We’d open a bottle of wine on a Tuesday because it had been a long day, grab dinner out because neither of us wanted to cook (obvi with a marg & side of fries!!). We also hadn’t been working out consistently at all, and we could both feel it.
The funny thing is, none of those things are bad. I LOVE date nights, vacations, good food, a glass of wine, all of it. But I think what I realized is that when everything becomes a reward, nothing really feels rewarding anymore. I missed looking forward to those things and, as silly as it sounds, feeling like I’d earned them a little bit…
