I had plans to go outside and convert my cabbage bed into an okra patch this morning, but alas it started to rain as soon as I was ready for the day. So, here I am doing what I scheduled for myself in the afternoon, writing on Substack, while the sky delivers MORE rain as if we needed it. It is good to have something to do when the rain pushes us outdoor people, indoors.
We’ve had a ton of rain recently. My neighbor said we are pushing 26 inches in 30 days. I’m not sure I believe that, but what I do know is the ground is fully saturated, it can’t soak up anymore water, and all the moisture and cloud cover has kept things cool, which I am extremely grateful for. I like the rain, and just hope it stops at some point before the vegetable plants start to go awry from all the moisture.
