i see the wind rustling 'round the yellowed leaves of autumn i see the sunlight sparkling up the beads of morning dew i see the bees buzzing 'round some honeysuckle thick with pregnant flowers and i come to know what makes me breathe i see the streets clogged up with traffic, i see the news so full of drama, gloom i hear the chatter of media gossip, and i know what makes me sleep it numbs my soul, i never breathe suffocate, suffocate the need to breathe i reach to feel the bark of the old grandfather oak i lie down upon the earth and feel the rocks, run my fingers through the dirt i turn my face up toward the clouds and let the rain pour down upon me and i come to know, i come to know what makes me breathe i look into your eyes and i see hunger, i look into your heart and i see the walls i hear your thoughts in continuous thunder, and i know what makes us sleep it numbs the soul, we never breathe suffocate, suffocate the need to breathe work 8-5 some fast food dinner slip into a scrolling stupor desperate soul in restless sleep alarm clock shock, a donut and some coffee good ole' fashioned american dream i climb slowly up a mountain, i hear my footsteps along the way whoosh of raven wings turns my eyes upward toward the vast expanse of sky i sit to rest and watch the ants scurry along their path the beauty of a dying cactus makes me catch my breath and in the moment, i'm not afraid of death in the blink of an eye, the. moments pass in the blink of an eye, i'm back in my eight-to-five city life in the blink of an eye, i forget to remember breathe....
