CCV Reminders for November 9-15, 2025

This Sunday, November 12th, is another opportunity for us to celebrate the life-changing resurrection of Jesus together! Our weekly worship gathering starts at 10am and features time in worship, time in the Word, and time in prayer together. Being TOGETHER in God’s presence like this as regularly as possible is a unique and powerful way to encounter God and respond to His direction & guidance.

Join us this week for a special united worship gathering hosted by SOCC as we now begin the formal process of working toward an imminent merger with them, hopefully around the time of the New Year. There will be refreshments after the service so please be encouraged to stay and begin to make some new friends!

Wednesday, November 12th at 7:00am, 12:00pm and 7:00pm: Corporate Prayer gatherings for the SOCC/CCV merger held at the House of Prayer in East Lansing.

Have a hunger for more fellowship with your brothers and sisters in Christ? Have an interest in how to deepen your own Spiritual Formation? Or, at the very least, do you enjoy a good potluck meal? If any or all of these apply to you, we’d love to have you join us for home group on Tuesday nights at the Shoemaker’s home in Haslett. We’ll begin with a potluck meal at 6:30pm, then transition to a time of worship, discussion & prayer using John Mark Comer’s video materials on “Practicing The Way”. Each month we’ll focus on a different spiritual discipline, learning how to implement these practices in our own walk with the Lord. This week we’ll begin a new study on the spiritual practice of Solitude.

For nearly one year now we’ve been publicly discussing the possibility of merging CCV with Spirit of Christ Church in Haslett. It’s now official; both Boards of Elders have voted to pursue joining forces and begun to work out the details of How to proceed. We intend to meet together for Worship once in November (tomorrow) and once in December (Date TBD). We’ll also come together for a Fire By Night gathering on Sunday, November 31st and a Christmas Eve Service on Dec. 24th.

Our hope and intention is to officially bring the two churches together in January 2026 after the new year, allowing time for several important remaining details to be worked out in the meantime.

Please continue to pray for God’s wisdom, guidance, confirmation and provision as we pursue what we believe God’s Spirit has called and invited us to do together.

As we move decisively toward this merger, we want to bathe the process in prayer for wisdom and guidance. To that end, we’re inviting both churches to engage in 21 Days of Prayer, using John 17 (verse-by-verse) as a prayer guide. This beautiful and compelling passage contains Jesus’ prayer for his disciples, and especially for their unity, just before he went to the cross. While all of our YTD fixed expenses have been covered for 2025, we are still three weeks behind on meeting Pastor Kevin’s payroll expenses.
