This is Newsletter we’re diving into Week 2 of #AIinEducation: The Teachable Machine, where students don’t just play with AI, they train their own models (ta-da!)

And the best part? It’s all FREE , the way learning with AI should be.

I'm also passionate about equipping children with the skills to become creators with technology, not just passive consumers. This is even more crucial with the rise of AI.

18 THINGS MENTALLY STRONG PEOPLE DO!!! I do love a good infographic!

In these five lessons, students collect and test data, train a model to recognise 2D shapes, and then compare AI’s predictions with their own. Even kindergarteners have trained the machine with enormous excitement, laughing, testing and learning as their shapes came to life on screen.

Along the way, students practise MATHS(percentages, probability, data diversity), LITERACY(explanations, reflection, clear communication) and DIGITAL LITERACY (machine learning concepts, ethical use of data). Teachers report high engagement: younger learners are thrilled to see the AI correctly identify their shapes, while older students push the limits by varying angles, lighting, and backgrounds to test how well the model performs.

Gibberish is the art of using sounds and utterances in place of normal speech. Put the group into pairs and invite each pair to carry on a conversation as if speaking in an unknown language. Players should converse as if making perfect sense.

Some students find it easy to speak in gibberish, while others struggle. Invite students who are having trouble to start with making simple sounds such as: ma; dee; dah; doo; etc. This will help them become more at ease with vocalising nonsense sounds.

To get the ball rolling I used ChatGPT right there right in the classroom.

Here’s the lively 4-person gibberish dialogue it delivered just the right content to model in class. It flows like a real conversation, with questions, exclamations and interruptions, just no real words!

Characters:

• Bloopa

• Zimdah

• Kreevo

• Maffin

Bloopa: “Dabba doo, shabba la maaaa!?”
(leans in, eyebrows raised as if asking a serious question)

Zimdah: “Ooooh! Tikko makka shoo-sha! Hahahahaha!”
(claps hands and laughs)

Kreevo: “Brrrrra-ka-ta-ka-ta… doo doo DOO?!”
(points to the sky, then looks confused)

Maffin: “Nee ba loo, nee ba loo… chakka chakka CHOMP!”
(makes chewing movements dramatically)

Bloopa: “Waaa? Waaa? Shabba dabba noo-noo?”
(tilts head like asking for clarification)

Zimdah: “Eeeeeeeeh! Glooba flooba flooba!”
(waves hands wildly)

Kreevo: “Tik-tik-tikka boom! Shish shish SHAAAAH!”
(stomps foot like making a big point)

Maffin: “Ohhhh dee-da-daa… woo-ba woo-ba woo-ba.”
(soft singsong, calming the group)

All Together: “Blaaaah dee dooo, sha-BAH sha-BOO!”
(throw hands up in mock agreement)

This way, kids see intonation, rhythm, and body language carrying the meaning, even without real words.

This really was a hit with the students, their creative juices were flowing. Some filmed an video. Some performed for the class, they all wrote scripts and had a great time.

Pyramid Puzzles Interactive - Loved this starter - worked for a wide range of ages and abilities. I also extended it by getting the pupils to multiply.
